Delete Your Data

Last updated: 9 October 2026

We believe you should have full control over your data. This page explains exactly how to delete your FareChecked account and all associated data.

Your options

You have two ways to delete your data:

Option 1: In-app deletion (instant)

The fastest way to delete your data is through the FareChecked app:

  1. Open the FareChecked app on your Android device
  2. Tap the Account tab
  3. Tap Account Management
  4. Scroll down and tap "Delete My Account"
  5. Confirm the deletion when prompted

What happens: Your account is deleted immediately. This permanently removes:

  • Your Firestore document (all account data in our database)
  • Your Firebase Auth account — you will be signed out

Timeline: Instant. Once confirmed, deletion cannot be undone.

Option 2: Email request

If you prefer, you can request deletion by email:

  1. Send an email to [email protected]
  2. Use the subject line: "Delete My Data"
  3. Send it from, or include, the email address you use to sign in to FareChecked
  4. Optional: tell us why you're leaving. It helps us improve the app for other drivers

What happens: We will process your request and confirm once your data has been deleted.

Timeline: Usually within 2 working days, and always within 30 days of receiving your request.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed from our servers:

DataDetails
Email addressYour Google account email
Display nameYour Google account display name
Firebase UIDYour unique Firebase identifier
Device informationDevice model, Android version, app version
Device UUIDYour per-install random identifier
Trial/subscription statusAll subscription data and timestamps
Session timestampslastSeenAt and all activity timestamps
Device change countdeviceChangeCount history

What we keep after deletion

  • A deletion record: your account ID (a random code, not your name or email) and the date it was deleted, so a deleted account cannot be silently recreated.
  • A free-trial marker: a one-way scrambled code made from your Google account, so the free trial cannot be claimed again. It cannot be turned back into your email or name.
  • Anonymous usage totals: hours the app was online, stored against the random account ID only. With your account deleted, these are no longer linked to your name or email.
  • Your exit survey answer (only if you gave one): the reason you picked, any comment you wrote, your plan status, app version and how many days you had the app. It is kept without your name, email or account ID and deleted automatically after 12 months.
  • Crash reports may remain in Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days according to Firebase retention settings.

What does NOT need deletion

The following data is stored only on your device and is removed simply by uninstalling the app:

  • App settings and preferences
  • Local diagnostic logs
  • Any cached fare-reading results

To remove this data: Uninstall the FareChecked app from your Android device (Settings → Apps → FareChecked → Uninstall).

No additional steps are needed — uninstalling removes everything stored locally.

After deletion

  • You will be signed out. If you sign in again later, a new FareChecked account is created without a free trial.
  • Deleting your FareChecked account does not automatically cancel any Google Play subscription. You must cancel subscriptions through Google Play.
  • Deletion is permanent and irreversible

Other data rights

Deleting your account is one way to exercise your rights. You may also:

  • Request a copy of your data — email [email protected] with subject "Data Access Request"
  • Correct inaccurate data — email [email protected] with subject "Data Correction"
  • Object to or restrict processing — email [email protected] with subject "Processing Objection"
